"Death is killed" means that "death does not come again," and "captivity is held captive" means that "captivity will not return."

“사망이 죽었다”는 “다시는 사망이 임하지 않는다”는 말이고, “사로잡힘이 사로잡혔다”는 “사로잡힘이 다시 있지 않는다”는 말이다.

 

As the ray of the sun is eternal because the sun is eternal, so the spiritual life is eternal because Christ is eternal.

태양이 영원하기에 태양광선이 영원하듯, 그리스도께서 영원하시기에 영적 삶이 영원하다.

 

When sin does not succeed in getting dominion over the saints as it assails them, it is forced to serve them. "To them that love God all things work together for good." (Rom. 8:28.) ... Thus dissipation makes the soul chaster when it attacks it; pride makes it humbler ...

죄가 성도들을 공격해서 그들을 제압할 수 없을 때, 그 죄가 성도들을 섬길 수밖에 없다. “하나님을 사랑하는 자들에게는 모든 것이 합력하여 선을 이룬다(롬8:28).” ... 그리하여 방탕이 인간을 공격하면 그를 더 품위 있게 만들고, 교만이 공격하면 더 겸손하게 만든다...

 

Sin rules in our mortal body if we yield to it, but it becomes a servant if we resist it, for it thoroughly arouses our hatred of iniquity and our love of righteousness.

우리가 죄에 굴복하면 그것이 우리의 필멸의 몸 안에서 지배자가 되나, 우리가 그것에 저항하면 그것은 우리의 종이 된다. 왜냐하면 그것이 철저히 >불의에 대한 우리의 거부감<과 >의에 대한 우리의 사랑<을 불러일으키기 때문이다.

 

Let us recognize, then, how marvelous God's wisdom is! He furthers the good through evil and he perfects righteousness through sin, not only in us, but also in others.

그러니 하나님의 지혜가 얼마나 대단한지 보시라! 그분께서는 우리에게 뿐만 아니라 다른 자들에게도 악을 통해서 선을 이루시고 죄를 통해서 완전한 의를 이루신다.
