Moses' meeting with God on the mountain was prolonged, so Israelites forced Aaron to gather gold pieces from the people and cast it into a golden calf. Israelites disobeyed the command of God who had brought them out of Egypt, the command not to make images representing the invisible God, and made a golden calf and worshiped it as the God.
When God informed Moses of this heinous religious crime, Moses hurriedly descended from the mountain to settle the incident. First, Moses ground the golden calf into powder and threw it into a stream. A golden calf might be a fairly large lump of gold of a very large sum. Moses thoroughly gave up and threw away this valuable gold nugget. He turned it into powder and threw it into the streaming water lest people should pick it up again when it was thrown in pieces of gold. He made the gold invisible to the people and made no one pick it up. Moses thoroughly removed anything that had become an abomination to God, however valuable it might be. He put God's glory before money.
Moses also killed all the leaders involved in the golden calf. He ruthlessly punished those who committed this heinous religious crime that could destroy all Israel, regardless of their status. Moses was the one who valued the glory and holiness of God more than human esteem and dignity.
Servants of God must be religious leaders like Moses. They must not be like Aaron. Aaron is the one who brought an abominable thing into the religion of Israel. Moses faith is much higher than Aaron's as heaven is higher than earth. There are false servants of God like Aaron in the world these days. They insist that the church should tolerate homosexuality, that human rights of homosexuals should be supported, that the death penalty should be abolished, and that ideas of Buddhism, a wicked idolatrous religion, can be brought into Christianity. They should not do this!
Servants of God must imitate Moses.
