You're spoiling the atmosphere if you, invited to a birthday party of your friend, suddenly make a loud noise when he is about to blow out the candles at the party. In a movie theater, a man and his girl friend are whispering when a serious scene of the movie was shown. Then they are ones who don't grasp the atmosphere of the movie theater at all.
Bible says that the God created the world for six days, rested on the seventh day, and made the seventh day (the Sabbath) holy, making the day his day. God told his people to separate the Sabbath from other days, to keep the day holy, and not to do private works of farming and selling on the day, and to let even livestock rest on the day.
Of course, since God exists for himself from eternity to eternity, there is no such a birthday with him. However, if there is a birthday for a person, likewise there is a very important day for God: the sabbath day. Birthday is very important for a man; the Sabbath is not less important and significant for God than the birthday of man. The Sabbath is (not your or my day but) God's day! on this day all human beings including all other creatures must remember the God and thank and worship him who gave them life.
If a man works alone in a field on the sabbath day that is a very important day to God, he is like a man yelling in the movie theater. Those who work on the Sabbath day are guilty of spoiling the atmosphere of the Sabbath. Of course, God blesses very much those who remember and distinguish the holy Sabbath, and do not work for themselves, but worship him on the day. First of all, they are blessed with the blessing of rest, being freed from work. A lot of piled-up work, and that endless lifetime-work must be a pain of hell. Those who believe in God are blessed at least with one day's rest a week. God also promised the observers of the Sabbath that he would care for their crops and businesses lest they should suffer losses.
The Sabbath gives you a periodical rest for a while from hard labor, and God's help in your life.
