>> Then he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was many furlongs distant from the land, beaten by the waves; for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out for fear. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” (Mt 14:22-33) <<

>> who (The God) alone stretched out the heavens, and trampled the waves of the sea (or trampled the back of the sea dragon). (Job 9:8) <<

Job in his tribulation confessed about God, "He alone stretches out the heavens and tramples the waves of the sea." God is great, so he created the vast universe, and he alone is the almighty One who tramples the waves of the raging sea, Job says. The big waves of the raging sea are very dangerous and harmful and cause shipwrecks, killing many people. The Hebrew phrase giving the meaning 'the waves of the sea' allows us to take the meaning 'the back of the sea dragon' also. There could be a sea monster under the violent waves of the sea, which destroyed sailing boats. Job confesses that God alone can subdue such dangerous beings.

In the days of New Testament, Jesus walked on the water to his disciples who were suffering from wind and waves in a boat. And he stopped the wind and the waves.

Jesus was the One about whom the Old Testament had said, "He who alone treads the waves of the sea." In this way, the Old Testament and the New Testament testify that Jesus is the true God.

The Bible says that also a man of faith can tread on the waves of the sea.
