>> ... 7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me." 8 For he had said to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!" 9 And Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" He replied, "My name is Legion; for we are many." 10 And he begged him eagerly not to send them out of the country. Now a great herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; 12 and they begged him, "Send us to the swine, let us enter them." 13 So he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea." ... <<

This is a scene where Jesus heals a demon-possessed man in Gerasa. This demoniac was too strong to be subdued by people. But when Jesus approached him, he suddenly became gentle and trembled, for the unclean spirits in him knew that Jesus was the Son of God. They said they were as many as the army. In other words, there were a lot of demons in one person. Jesus ordered them to come out of the man, but they begged him to allow them to enter the nearby swine. Jesus allowed it, and the demons entered into the swarm of swine, and nearly two thousand swine ran into the sea and died. But the swine (the pigs) were a man's livestock.

After all, Jesus drove the demons from the man, causing great damage to the owner by killing the pigs. Why did the good Jesus cast out the unclean spirits, which would result in another's loss? Couldn't he have driven out the unclean spirits without any loss of pigs? This is why. Jesus wanted people to know clearly that the demons are not imaginary, and that demon-possessed condition is not a simple mental illness. Some doubters may think that Jesus and the demoniac entered into partnership and are doing such a show to the people. However, the incident in which 2,000 pigs ran into the sea at once was beyond common sense, and such a thing could be done by neither magic nor trickery. The fact that a demoniac became normal suddenly on Jesus' command and that at the same time 2,000 pigs suddenly ran into the sea shows clearly that the demons are not imaginary insubstantial beings. Jesus sacrificed 2,000 pigs in order to make people (especially people of today) aware of the fact that evil spirits actually exist.

It is an obvious fact that evil spirits exist and that they harass people, and people must learn this spiritual truth at any cost. Many people perish because they do not know truth. We know from the text of the Bible that a group of demons obey the word of Jesus immediately, no matter how many they are. This is the spiritual truth that we really must know. Jesus is the Son of the Most High God. He has the unlimited authority over the heavens and the earth, and even over all the evil spirits. We must know this truth. This truth must rule our lives. We must always obey him who has this infinite authority. If you acknowledge and obey his authority, you'll live; if not, you'll die. This is the truth that determines your eternal life. Even if your property worth 2,000 pigs is gone, it is not a loss to you if you realize this truth.

) -->

Who gets possessed with demons? 'A pig-like guy' is easily possessed by demons. Jesus said to demons, "You can enter those pigs!" He told evil spirits to come out of the man and enter the pigs. Can a man who lives as a man as the form of God be possessed with demons? He who lives like a pig is easily possessed with demons. Evil spirits, by Jesus' permission or without his permission because sinners are not his men, come into those who like impurity, who trample on the word of God that is more precious than the pearl, who commit again the same dirty sins that they quitted when they repented and were forgiven. Judas Iscariot became a disciple of Jesus, disliked his precious words, but liked only money. He was possessed with an evil spirit, and wicked people and evil spirits made full use of him. At last he ended his life by suicide. He was like a pig that ran into the sea and died.

) -->

But if you accept Jesus' compassion by faith, acknowledge him as the noble one, and make him your Lord, you will be freed from all evil spirits at once and become a good worker who preaches Christ to others like a man of Gerasa who was possessed with demons.
