The tree of life in Proverbs, the Old Testament - Prov 3:18

The tree of life is a life-giving tree. Humans will not die if they eat the fruit of the tree. This tree of life first appears in Genesis.

>And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen 2:9)<

God allowed Adam and Eve to eat the fruits of the tree of life, on the condition that they should not eat the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, the Devil (the serpent) tempted Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge. The Devil said that man could be like God if he ate it, and Eve thought the fruit to give her wisdom and ate it. >So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate. (Gen 3:6)<

Instead of being wise after eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge, human beings were banished from the paradise and became unfortunate ones who must live in agony and die to return to soil.

However, God helps man get wisdom and go a way of life while living on earth, although he will die one day. Because he is the Creator and can not give up humans.

>She (wisdom) is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called happy. (Prov 3:18)<

>Keep my commandments, and live. (Prov 4:4)<​​

God gives true wisdom to those who live on the earth, and this wisdom makes them go on the way of life. In Proverbs, there are many words of wisdom that will lead us to the path of life. Please read Proverbs many times.​

Proverbs gives these wise instructions: 1. to fear God, 2. not to depend on oneself or humans but to depend on God and to obey his commandments, 3. not to be seduced into sin by the wicked, etc.​

If we receive the wisdom God gives us and go the way of life, and if we end our life on earth in the faith in Jesus the Savior, we will eat fruits of the tree of life and live forever in heaven.​

>He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches, To him who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev 2:7)<

>Then he showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
