Today (2004. 5. 21.), the Dong-A Ilbo has a picture in which there is a Buddhist nun. I understand that she got her head shaved for she is a Buddhist. But why on earth should she wear a heavy makeup on the lips, which can't be thought as a Buddhist attitude? What are the worldly things left with her that she can't still give up?
God covered the heads of human beings, especially those of women, with hair, so that they might not look ugly. In particular, God gave women beautiful hair as a gift so that it might cover all defects on their heads and make them look beautiful in the eyes of the men and get married to them. That's why God does not give women bald heads.
Buddhists shave their heads as a sign of their belief that everything in the world is vain and futile; but artificial bald heads look so weird. What I really want is that at least women should have long hair. If you can't have long hair, Buddhist nuns, why don't you come out wearing a wig from the Buddhist temples so that you may look decent to others?
